T-28 Trojan

The T-28 Trojan has all of the appeal of a large warbird and possesses exceptionally clean aerodynamics.  This models flight characteristics are very mild mannered and predictable.  The T-28 Trojan served a dual role in the US Military; it was an outstanding fire bomber in the early stages of the Viet Nam air war and an equally outstanding primary and intermediate military trainer, helping bring the US Navy and the US Air Force into the Lockheed T-33 and the beginning of the jet age!

The kit builds into a 97-1/4” wingspan  by 79” long museum piece that stands 27” tall at the canopy.  As with most Iron Bay Warbirds, the center section of the wing is integrated with the highly detailed molded fiberglass fuselage.  The retracts remain in the fuselage for transportation, and the outer wing panels feature our novel plug-in convenience.

The main gear strut covers and nose gear doors are aluminum. Wings, stabs and rudder are wire cut foam, ready for balsa sheeting. Fuselage formers are laser cut for fast accurate assembly. The landing gear platform design follows the same strong structural support first introduced in the Iron Bay Corsair.  And of course a very comprehensive and complete hardware package is included along with detailed drawings, a large decal sheet, and construction manual.

.

The T-28 Trojan typically requires 7 channels if flaps, retracts, and the optional speed brake are used.

It typically weighs 32 lbs and requires an engine in the 60-70cc range.

The Iron Bay T-28B promises enough challenge and excitement to satisfy the needs of even the most seasoned warbird modeler, while, at the same it presents an excellent entry level aircraft for modelers just getting started in giant scale warbirds.
