F6F-3 Hellcat

The Iron Bay F6F-3 Hellcat is one of the finest flying giant scale warbird kits in the industry.  Its lightweight fiberglass fuselage not only looks extremely scale with its molded in panel lines and surface details, but is extremely strong and durable.  As with most of our warbird aircraft kits, the center section of the wing is molded integrally with the fuselage to increase strength and reduce building time.  This accurate molding also insures that the aircraft is built straight and true for excellent flight performance.  

 

 

The F6F-3 Hellcat is 1/6th scale and has an 87” wingspan.  It typically weighs 24 lbs ready to fly.  It requires a 50cc or larger engine, and Robart rotating retracts.  The kit features the molded fiberglass components, foam wing cores, clear canopy, complete wood package, hardware, large decal sheet, drawings, and construction manual.  We also offer an optional scale cockpit and sliding canopy

 

 

The foam core outer wing panels build quickly and attach to the center wing section with our reliable plug-in wing spar system.  The retractable main landing gear conveniently remain in molded fiberglass section for easy transportation.  The inboard sections of the flaps likewise remain attached to the fiberglass for the ultimate in simplicity and reliability.
