F4U-1 Corsair

Without a doubt, the Iron Bay Corsair is the best engineered and most highly regarded F4U-1 kit ever produced. 

 

The Corsair features a superbly hand-laid fiberglass fuselage complete with panel lines and surface details.  The hard work is done for  you because the center gull-wing section of the wings is integrally molded with the fuselage to increase strength and reduce building time.  This accurate molding also insures that the aircraft is built straight and true for excellent flight performance.  

 

 

The Corsair is 1/6th scale and has an 85” wingspan.  It typically weighs 23 lbs ready to fly.  It requires a 50cc or larger engine, and Robart rotating retracts.  The kit includes the molded fiberglass components, foam wing cores, clear canopy, complete wood package, hardware, large decal sheet, drawings, and construction manual.  We also offer a optional scale cockpit with sliding canopy.   

 

The foam core outer wing panels build quickly and attach to the center wing section with our reliable plug-in wing spar system.  The retractable main landing gear conveniently remain in the gull-wing section for easy transportation.  The inboard sections of the flaps likewise remain attached to the fiberglass for the ultimate in simplicity and reliability.
